Property maintenance of one form or another is a chore that keeps popping its head up. With so many things that need to be done to a home in order to keep things running smoothly, there is literally always something to do.
Some things are a little more important than others though and the plumbing of a property is something that should never be overlooked. Below, the team at J & P have created a helpful plumbing checklist that will help you to look for plumbing problems as well as potential plumbing problems that may be addressed before they deteriorate to become a major issue.
Taking just a few minutes to inspect your plumbing system is time well invested, and will end up saving you money in the long run.
- Look For Any Signs of Damage on Exposed Pipes – This may include puddles of water and watermarks along with signs of corrosion such as green stains around brass and copper fittings.
- How Is Your Water Pressure? – A drop in water pressure can be a sign of a sediment build up or a problem with your main water line
- Is Your Drainage Working Correctly? Slow drainage usually indicates a clog in the drain or a blocked vent pipe. Drains should have a full swirl when draining correctly.
- Keep a Check on Your Toilet – This will probably take care of itself but it is important to ensure that you flush each toilet to make sure that it is flushing properly. Check the parts inside the tank of the toilet to see if any parts are broken, rusted, or missing.
Whilst these are just a few of the things which you should keep your eye on, spotting a problem early here can make the difference between a quick preventative repair and a major job incurring a significant cost.
By taking the time needed to run through this checklist on a fairly regular basis (once or twice a year), you will be able to keep an eye on anything that may lead to far greater problems in the future.
By addressing these problems on a regular basis, you will not only prevent problems becoming worse, you may also find that you save a substantial sum of money over the long term.
